Bonded magnet is made through "compression molding" or "injection molding" of the mixture of magnetic powder and bonding agent.
Compression bonded magnets are available using NdFeB, SmCo, and Alnico magnetic powder. Combinations of different material grades may also be used to create specific magnetic characteristics. Compression bonded magnets offers higher magnetic strength than injection molded magnets due to their higher magnetic particle density, but are limited to simpler geometries.
Injection molded magnets are available using ferrite, neodymium-iron-boron, or blends of magnetic materials to achieve an extensive range of properties. The Injection molding process is particularly well suited to molding very intricate shapes and thin walled parts. The finished parts can be either very simple or complex in geometry. The injection molded magnet has a high mechanical strength and may be molded together with other matching parts.
The bonded magnets are usually used in magnetic suspended bearing, mobile phone, buzzer, watch, motor, etc.
